It's that time of year, again.
The incredible finale to the Feasts of the Lord are complete for now. The sukkah is being dismantled and put away for next year (unless Jesus comes and we meet in Father's house instead!) Pumpkin everything is available everywhere and Fall clothes are feeling warm and cozy.
This next week will bring Halloween festivities and every restaurant is decorated with gross body parts, gruesome decor and models of dead zombies or skeletons or monsters. Witches, black cats, spiders and pumpkins are everywhere. Haunted houses and hayrides abound nearby, too.
People seem to love being "scared" to death or at least made to jump in a dark & creepy event made to bring fear. All in fun, right?
But there IS a spirit of fear that is very powerful:
Ezekiel 21:7 ~ They will ask you, ‘Why are you groaning?’ Then you will say, ‘Because of the news that is coming. The hearts of all the people will melt away in fear. Their hands will not be able to help them. Their spirits will grow weak. And they will be so afraid they’ll wet themselves.’ The news is coming! You can be sure those things will happen,” announces the Lord and King.
God's judgment was coming on Israel for their rebellion/disobedience against God and His will. His judgment will also come to each of us one day.
So often we try to get away with things. We think God will wink at our behavior and give us a "pass" because we are basically trying to be good. We go to church. We pray and serve when we can. We tithe most of the time, etc.
BUT God is not to be taken for granted. He is intimately aware of who we are, how we think and what we do. He knows a heart divided between following HIM and doing what WE want is dangerous. He is a jealous God because He has given so much to us to save and deliver us from our sinful lives. He wants our whole heart. He has so much to give us if we will only trust fully in Him.
Do you want a frightfully good time? Love & trust Him through these end time days. It's serious business to love and serve God. The world will not make out well when His judgement comes. Check the reference I made earlier: they will wet themselves in fear. And not the "fun" kind.
God's word says in 2 Timothy 1:7 ~ God gave us his Spirit. And the Spirit doesn’t make us weak and fearful. Instead, the Spirit gives us power and love. He helps us control ourselves.
See that? We have a sound mind when we are living for Jesus. NO FEAR. Fear is debilitating. Fear quenches action. Fear dissolves love. Fear takes over. BUT YOU are not made to be fearful. YOU are courageous, loving, obedient and strong by His Spirit.Skip the death scenes, the gruesome displays, the monsters and witchcraft. Turn on the lights and lift up your eyes. Fear NOT!
Maranatha, y'all.
He's going to come back.... maybe soon!
