There is a song we sing at our church: Jesus bring the rain!
IF Jesus wants to grow us, mature us or direct us by having us experience uncomfortable things, the song says, "Then Jesus bring the rain!"
I have to admit... I'm a little tired of the rain. It has rained for months. A day or two of sun/semi sun and then 5-7 days of gray, humid, drizzle to deluge rain showers. It feels like I'm starting to get moldy or mildewy!
Even my garden is weedy, spindly and swampy.
When things get to be too much, we tend to fold. We shrink into our comfort zone. We droop physically and emotionally. We even get snarky & withdraw.
But if we believe that God is good (All the Time), and He is, then we need to change our thinking. Our brain will lead our bodies & emotions.
Rain lasts for a season and then it is gone.
Sunshine is great --- until the Earth is baked and droughted.
Warmth is swell --- until we are soaked in sweat and the sheets are so damp that we can't sleep.
SO, maybe we need to adjust our thinking so that we can adjust our attitude.
God is good. He is working all things out according to His plan. He loves us but also works His plan. We may be soaked in the sweat of the sun or the drenching rain or the tears on our pillow ---- but God is good and He is with you, working things out.
We can tolerate a lot if we adjust our thoughts:
Do you have air conditioning? Do you have a cold beverage? Do you have a roof to live under? Do you have food to eat? Do you have safe water to drink? Do you have a caring Church family? Do you have a job or legal income? Do you live free? Do you have Jesus are your Messiah/Savior and know that He will come and take you to His Father's House in eternity at the right time?
You get my drift? Count your blessings. Sing praises. Lift up your eyes and heart to The Father who loves you.
Rejoice when the sun shines.
Dance in the rain.
But as the song says, "Bring me anything that brings you glory. And I know there'll be days when this life brings me pain, but if that's what is takes to praise you, then Jesus bring the rain!"
Maranatha, y'all. He is coming back. Stay ready!
